Thank you Helpful links: Find Serial Numbers and Product Keys Find Downloads and Service Packs Activate Autodesk software. As there are many different issues that can cause an installation error, it is helpful to provide as much information as possible: Product Version Type of License. However just install and activate the software like normal after you complete your Windows 7 upgrade. But activation is only permitted if the serial is still considered active at Autodesk end. The weird thing is, I have installed via the disc on another computer and it has given me the opportunity to run a trial version, onto which I can transfer my licence. On my current pc I have reinstalled the Win 7 OS onto another hard drive with a different boot, but it doesnt give me the option to run as a trial and requires all the activation serial numbers, which I do not have. Do you think this is because it is on the same pc and motherboard, albeit on a separate drive, whereas the other set up is on another computer altogether Do you think I could export the current licence to a usb, uninstall the application completely from my pc, transfer the licence to the other machine, and then export this again back from this other machine back onto a new install on my main machine I know this sounds a bit long winded but I cannot afford to lose the install I currently have without first exporting the licence and I know that these are time sensitive 24 hours Do you think this would work. To recap I have done a clean install of Win 7 OS on a separate HD on my pc (A), installed ACAD on this drive but do not have the option to run in trial mode. Now I am guessing the the licence is tied to the motherboard as the identity of this computer as it is already installed on a different HD on the same pc (A), and for that reason it wont operate in trial mode to allow me to export the licence from on HD to another on the same pc. I have installed it on a different pc (B) (one that it has been on before but no longer contains the licence) and it would seem to allow me to run in trial mode and import the licence. Serial Xcad 2008 License States ThatSo I guess the question is, can I export the licence to a computer (B) on which it has been on before, do a clean install of Win 7 on the original pc (A), uninstall and reinstall the ACAD on (A) and export the licnce from (B) back onto (A) Does it matter that it has already been on this computer (A) before The license states that it will never expire - see attached. Unfortunately now when trying to import on the other pc it tells me that the computer id number is different, but I never had the option to change it at the time of export. Is there any way of accessing and editing the.plu250 file to edit this to the correct computer id onto which it was to be exported - I must assume not.
